Steamworks Clubs have been providing men (18 years & older) with clean, comfortable and stylish places to meet other men, relax, workout, and play (safely) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for thirty years. That’s right. The upscale chain of clubs for men just hit the BIG 30, and from the looks of things they’re going strong and still making their mark in the world. In fact, the Toronto location was recently awarded “Best Design” by the American Institute of Architects, Michigan Chapter.

Steamworks currently has four locations, including the Toronto club, the original Chicago club, a Berkeley, California club, and a club in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Each has been designed to have its own distinctive personality - one that reflects its place in the local community - but at the same time, the classic industrial design aesthetic that defined the original location is threaded throughout all the clubs, making each of them unmistakably “Steamworks”. Steamworks founder Rick Stokes, is committed to making sure his customers can always count on the Steamworks brand when it comes to cleanliness, quality, and comfort. “Gay men have always had places to go,” he says, “but sometimes they were not optimal places. And in the days before AIDS and STD’s came into our lives, maybe that was okay, because it was all we had. But now things are different. We deserve more and we demand more. Steamworks always delivers the very best.”

Whether you visit Steamworks to hang out, work out, or make out, you can count on an unforgettable experience. The Steamworks Clubs are always clean, comfortable, and hot. And while Steamworks is known for the fun it provides, the company also has a strong tradition of community leadership - tackling issues that impact the LGBT community head-on. In 1985, Steamworks saw the need and the opportunity to use their clubs to help educate the community about HIV/AIDS. Again, Founder Stokes: “We’re committed to giving back to the community from which we came, of which we will always be a part, and which is the source of our lifeblood. We want our customers to know that when they spend money with us, a significant portion of that money will come back to the LGBT community.” So here’s to the Birthday boys at Steamworks! Play Hard. Play Smart.
